The VisualAfter the successful breakthrough album Moments of Being (2019), The Visual continues to grow from the dreamy, dark sound that drew wax lyrical responses from the likes of 3voor12 and NME. On forthcoming full-length The Spirit of Age, the band sounds more adventurous, free spirited and dynamic, with sporadic upsurges that wouldn’t look out of place on a Nick Cave or Wolf Alice record. The new sound also lets in more warmth, sensuality and benevolence, which you can hear on crystalline first single ‘Waves’. “It’s less about the self and we’ve tried to give more lightness to the world. I wrote from that perspective,” says Van Rij. The live line-up of The Visual is now also new: Van Rij and Persoon are joined by Django Trienes on guitar and Christophe Claeys (Mark Lanegan, Balthazar) on drums. “To listen to The Visual is to escape: from the world, from life, from yourself” - NME

la loyeWhile the alt-folk by la loye is often described as lo-fi or unpolished, the project around 26 year-old Lieke Heusinkveld is filled with hidden details in both sound and word. la loye does not explore the beaten track of human consciousness, but wanders along the exciting elephant paths, dark sprawl and beautiful open plains. Just like Elliott Smith, Mount Eerie, Radiohead and Big Thief, Heusinkveld digs deep in her reserves to give shape to raw emotion with fresh, sometimes very playful angles. At times oppressive music, but above all beautiful.

Lizet Aviva
Lizet Aviva’s music is like water. It carries you on a gentle stream, but also drags you down to the bottom like a whirlpool. At times honest, like a clear reflection. At times a blur, as the water gets rippled. With a keen eye Lizet writes and performs songs about outgrowing the past, dealing with old ghosts and being a wanderer in a fast spinning world. Her clear, warm voice and folky guitar embody her poetic lyrics.
Since Lizet was little, she has always been fascinated by stories. She could disappear for hours in her own world of poems, tales and drawings. After picking up the guitar at the age of 14 and discovering singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Feist and Jolie Holland she turned her stories into songs. Music has been her creative outlet ever since. https://www.instagram.com/lizetaviva/ https://www.lizetavivamusic.com/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/6rKcxN0QYxORzJaoVzmbqF?si=2rvoXMmsRzaXUR8TrDB21Q |
